Core Volunteer Guidelines

Core Volunteer Requirements

To ensure a safe environment for our guests and team, all prospective volunteers must meet the following criteria before their first shift:

  • Orientation Attendance: You must attend a mandatory 1-hour orientation and kitchen safety training session. Certain volunteer positions require obtaining Food Handling Certification. Additional training will be provided if required.
  • Dress Code: Closed-toe shoes, shirts with sleeves, and hair restraint (ball, cap, or hairnet) are required in the kitchen. Please be aware that Wildwood Soup Kitchen is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

The 30-Day Trial Period

All new volunteers begin with a 30-day introductory trial period. This period allows you to experience our kitchen environment and ensures the role is a mutually good fit.

  • Feedback: Shift leaders will provide guidance and feedback during your first few weeks.
  • Review: At the end of 30 days, we will check in to discuss permanent scheduling and ongoing volunteer opportunities.
