Volunteer

The Wildwood Soup Kitchen is blessed to have over 150 caring and loving volunteers inspired by the Gospel mandate to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, and welcome the stranger. We have no paid employees.

Administration Positions

A good leader/manager will motivate all the volunteers to do the best they can for the good of the organization.  These positions include board members, board officers, kitchen manager, spokesperson and much more.  If you have had skills in these areas, we want to know about you.

Pickup Drivers

Local stores and restaurants provide donations.  Volunteers are needed to pick up the donations and deliver them to WSK. Some items can weigh up to 30 pounds, equivalent to your 2-year-old grandchild.

Cooks

Cooks and cooking assistants plan, order, assign duties to helpers and prepare the meals. These are responsible positions supported by a good team of volunteers.

Fruit

Fresh fruit is donated from markets and from Edible Arrangements. We rely on a team of volunteers to process the donated fruit and dish up the prepared fruit salad for WSK clients.

Stocking

A food truck delivers supplies of fresh, frozen and canned foods in addition to other supplies for the ongoing operation of WSK every Wednesday morning. Boxes need to be opened and items stored. Also, large donations of food may need to be sorted and put away.

Sandwiches

Sandwich teams make sandwiches for our clients who are home bound. This volunteer position may be completed while standing or sitting.

Dishwasher

WSK uses disposal dishes and utensils, but pots and pans need to be washed. The dishwasher may also be asked to help with various meal preparation tasks.  No heavy lifting required.

Server

Dish up the meals on days when clients eat in the WSK dining room.  Provide beverages and desserts.

Cleaning/Maintenance/Handyman

Various jobs to keep our kitchen clean and operational.  The manager will ask for specific tasks to be done.

Food Prep
